The BookNetwork Beginnings

BookNetwork is an initiative begun by then-college student, Rebeca Montaner. Rebeca worked with a local community center to create a "College Bound Library," encouraging high school students to aspire to post-secondary education. Noticing the large quantity of books being thrown out, Rebeca developed the idea to redistribute to books to places where books and education are badly needed.

 

Rebeca opened the BookNetwork Inc. as a social enterprise to continue her efforts. Her own education taught her that many problems -  war, poverty, environmental crisis - can be prevented if people have access to the right education. We invite you to join her in this long-term efforts to empower communities through the gift of books.






How it works

Where do all the books come from?
Most of our books are donated by members of our College Network, but we accept donations from anyone who would like to contribute.

How does the BookNetwork improve education?

U.S.A.
Because all our books are donated, we are able to provide some of the lowest prices on the market. This helps struggling college students afford their textbooks, increasing their overall academic performance.

Developing world
With the proceeds raised by the books you've donated, we are able to provide financial support to charitable organizations that improve education in developing countries. For a full list of the educational projects we sponsor, please visit our Beneficiaries link.
How to contribute

Become an ambassador
We are always in search of driven individuals who share our ideals. As an ambassador, you can lead at book drive in your local college or high school. For more information please visit the Get Involved link.

Donate books
If you don't have the time to organize a book drive but still would like to help, you can donate books you no longer use. We accept any kind of books or media items. For more information go to our Donate link.

Help us spread the word!
Please tell your friends, professors and family members about what we do.  You might know a leader who could become an great ambassador or a person who would like to donate their books. Invite them to the website and show them how they can contribute.
